WHAT ARE SOME OF HOUSTON'S TOP TOURIST ATTRACTIONS?
I am happy I was able to knock this one off my bucket list. I had a great time visiting Top Gun Range in Houston.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Gun firing produces an adrenaline surge that is both fulfilling and enjoyable. I think I did well for a first-time shooter.
The range offers different packages for purchase. On-site rentals of firearms and safety gear are available.
If you are in the Houston area, I recommend Top Gun for a fun time. For pricing and additional information, go to their website HERE.
Shiloh Shooting, another gun range in Houston, might be worth a look as well.
For all of your shopping and dining needs, The Galleria Mall features a number of high-end clothing stores and restaurants.
This is probably the biggest mall I have ever seen. It has three levels and includes a hotel and ice-skating rink inside the mall.
Inside the shopping center, the Poke’ Fresh restaurant serves a range of teas, including bubble teas.
If you love cheesecake, stop by The Cheesecake Factory for a meal or a slice of your favorite.
In just a 6 to 8 minutes walk from the Galleria Mall is the iconic instagrammable Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park. It’s an ideal spot to capture some great pictures with your friends and family.
It is also a tranquil park where you may unwind and cool off while listening to the cascading waterfall drop from both sides of the 67-foot-high wall and getting immersed in the refreshing droplets of water mist.

The 12-acre Discovery Green Park, in the center of Downtown Houston, is one of the city’s most popular parks and is ideal for the whole family.
There is enough green landscape including a water play area where kids may play and cool off.
You can dine at a few restaurants or bring your own food and sit under one of the shaded trees with chairs and tables for a relaxing dining experience.
What Activities Are Offered By Discovery Green Park?
I discovered that the park hosts a variety of free fun events, including outdoor musical concerts on the Anheuser-Busch Stage, “Screen On The Green” movie nights, and other activities. To learn more visit the link below.
Every week, a line up of free concerts are held at the Miller Outdoor Theater. You can secure a ticket on their website, but it is not necessarily required. We didn’t have one and were still permitted to enter.
Houston is notoriously hot, but the industrial-sized ceiling fans towards the front of the stage provided a welcoming cool breeze.
Fortunately, on the day of the visit, temperatures ranged from the high 80s to the low 90s.
Bradd Marquis and his band gave us a beautiful performance and did an excellent job of introducing the audience to Sam Cook’s music and history.

While exploring Houston, I came across this Art Car Museum.
I honestly assumed it was an auto museum with antique vintage cars on display. However, it turned out to be a modest art gallery displaying metal artwork, including a few art automobiles.
You will love your visit if you are interested in art. Visit HERE to see a video presentation of the artist’s artwork.
This is most likely one of Houston’s few African museums. At the time of my visit, the Houston Museum of African-American Culture was closed.
According to a female museum representative, the museum is closed for renovations and will reopen on September 16, 2023.

If you enjoy Major League Baseball, then Minute Maid Park is the place to go in Houston to watch a game or two.
The retractable roof open-air baseball field is located in Downtown Houston and is home to the Houston Astros.
I read online that the Minute Maid Park is nicknamed the Minute Maid Juice Box. I do not know if it has any association with the Minute Maid Juice sold in many grocery stores across the United States.

It is said that everything in Texas is bigger, and this certainly applies to the food portions served at Houston eateries. Furthermore, the good customer service is refreshing, especially when compared to New York City.
Why Should You Dine Out In Houston?
The service workers in the restaurants and tourist spots we’ve visited have been extremely warm, pleasant, and accommodating.
Houston is a melting pot of cuisines from all over the world. Allow us to take you on a gourmet trip through some of Houston’s self-acclaimed restaurants.
Houston offers a broad choice of restaurants to suit every palette and budget, whether you are a Food Explora or a Foodie looking for new and intriguing flavors or a southern dining experience.

If you enjoy grilled meats, you will enjoy this Brazilian Steakhouse restaurant in Houston.
Fogo De Chao is a buffet-style steakhouse that offers a unique dining experience that serves all-you-can-eat succulent cuts of different cuts of meats.
The term Fogo De Chao refers to the traditional Gaucho method of grilling or roasting meats over an open flame.
Is Reservation Required at Fogo De Chao?
A reservation is required to dine at this restaurant. You select a package of steak, lamb, or seafood. I went with the steak bundle.
My package included endless portions of various types of steaks cooked over a high flame. They were presented on skewers and sliced at my table.
It also came with chicken and a variety of side dishes (plantains, mashed potatoes, and fried polenta).
You can eat as much as you want until your stomach tells you to stop.
Their market buffet table offered a beautiful selection of cooked-chilled and raw vegetables. I really enjoyed the vegetable selections; they were flavorful..
If you ever plan on visiting Fogo de Chao, make sure you go very hungry so that you can eat til you drop.
You may also visit their NYC locations if you are in the Big Apple.
Houston Texas is well-known for its BBQ and smoked meats.
I have had many Southern dishes before, but hands down the dishes I have eaten at this BBQ joint are probably the best I had to date.
When you step into Blood Bros. BBQ, you immediately feel at home. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
We wanted to have a full taste of Southern cuisine. As a result, we got their delicious guava-glazed BBQ ribs, smoked brisket, seasoned fried rice, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Their spicy smoked sausage definitely had a kick to it.
The food was finger-licking good. Make sure to try their peanut butter-flavored beer. It tasted like a clash between peanut butter and Guinness.
I am not getting paid for any of these restaurant reviews, but I highly recommend Blood Bros. BBQ.
I’m really glad I discovered Taste Of Nigeria restaurant in Houston. I had always wanted to try authentic African food, and they did not disappoint.
Their oxtail and goat stews are prepared differently than those served in Jamaica. In Jamaica, these meat dishes are brown stewed, whereas in Nigerian cuisine, they are served in a somewhat spicy tomato sauce.
Served with Jollof rice, sauteed green vegetables and fried ripe plantains make the perfect meal.
If you are looking for authentic Chinese or Sichuan cuisine in Houston then Trendy Dumpling restaurant is worth a visit.
They have a wide selection of trendy menu items, but grab a quick bite of their Pan Fried Dumplings, Fried Shrimp Balls, and Coffee Bubble Tea.
House Of Pies is a long-standing family-owned Houston restaurant and bakery.
My favorite pastry is pecan pie. I have had pecan pies from a variety of bakeries. However, the pecan pie from House Of Pies comes the closest in flavor and texture to my favorite bakery in New York City. It truly was a “slice of heaven on earth.”
When you are in the Houston area, treat yourself to a meal and dessert at House Of Pies.
Jack in the Box is one of Houston’s fast food chains. The menu and ambiance is similar to those of McDonalds and Burger King. They offer traditional American breakfast sandwiches, coffee, juices, hamburgers and dessert snacks.
Another prominent fast food company in Houston is WhatABurger. Despite the fact that I did not have the opportunity to visit, I thought it was worth mentioning. You can learn more about their menu and specials by clicking HERE.
Houston's Jack In The Box
Demeris is another BBQ joint in Houston Texas. I went in for a drink but ended up ordering their jalapeno sausage and creamy jalapeno corn.
The sausage was ok, but their cheesy jalapeno corn was a hit.
During my visit to Houston, I did not come across a Dunkin Donuts. Shipley Donuts, on the other hand, is similar to Dunkin’ Donuts in New York City. On the go, you can order doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee.
If you looking for more variety of tea or coffee. Hop over to The Tea House for all your different flavored teas and coffee. I tried their Vietnamese bubble coffee sweetened with condensed milk.
What Are Other Fun Things To Do In Houston?
All my travel packages were booked through EXPEDIA.
I stayed in Houston’s Sugarland neighborhood. Most of Houston’s top tourist attractions and popular restaurants are within a 10 to 25-minute drive.
From July to September, expect hot and humid weather with temperatures ranging from 90 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It feels more like a convection oven’s dry searing heat.
It is critical to remember that the weather might vary from year to year. So, before you travel to Houston Texas, please check the weather HERE.
If you dislike hot weather, you should consider traveling during the cooler seasons.

I grew up outside of Houston, and both my parents worked in Houston, so I’ve been to concerts, the theater, and museums there numerous times. My mother worked at the Houston Zoo, so I’ve been there countless times, and I highly recommend it. I would also walk through Hermann Park (where the Miller Outdoor Theater is as well as a lovely Japanese garden) to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which I recommend too! I had art teachers in high school who made art cars, so it would be fun to visit the Art Car Museum. Also, I’ve been to Downtown Aquarium once, and it is quite small, but I highly recommend Space Center Houston!

Fabulous Houston guide. You really covered some great places to visit and eat. There are quite a few yummy-looking restaurants, shopping, and attractions. The Waterwall Park really got my attention. That looks like a wonderful spot. My cousin lives in Houston – I will add this to my must-see stop on the next visit.
