Lake Champion is regarded as one of New York’s best Camping Resorts. If you’re a kid at heart looking for fun outdoor activities to do with your friends and family, this is the place to be.
In this blog, I will share about my time at this camp resort several years ago, as well as the activities the camp has to offer.
I hope you will be inspired to plan a trip this year at Lake Champion with family, school or church friends, and coworkers for a time of fun adventures and relaxation.

I visited Lake Champion Camp Resort several years ago with a group from my church and I had so much fun.
The minimum number of persons required to book a stay is 50. Therefore, this is perfect for family reunion or any other large groups.
Young Life Lake Champion as it is now called, has not only updated the name, but from their website they have also done a number of upgrades to the campsite. However, the resort still offers a number of fun new activities that everyone will enjoy.
Let’s Start With The Lake
The lake is probably one of the most relaxing and peaceful experiences, especially on a beautiful sunny summer morning. Can you imagine waking up everyday surrounded by nature?
The camp reminds me of my summer visits to the countryside in Jamaica. The grass and leaves became wet from the morning dew. All I could hear were the birds, nature and stillness of the lake speaking to my mental.

Are you up for an adventure? Let me briefly describe some of the adrenaline-pumping activities available at Lake Champion.
Zip lining and tubing from a speed boat were two of my favorite activities when I last visited.

If you’ve never gone zip lining, this is a must-do activity on Lake Champion. It’s both entertaining and liberating. Furthermore, you may zip line and water tubing as many times as you like.

Lake Champion is a family-oriented fun resort. However, alcohol and pets are not permitted at the resort.
The resort is primarily used for men’s/women’s retreats, as well as school, church, educational, and ski retreats. Conferences and training events are also held.
There are numerous enjoyable activities available to everyone. Other activities besides zip lining and tubing include:
Pool, water slides, and hot tub (later built).
Paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking are all popular water sports (seasonal).
Wall Climbing
Sand Court Volleyball
High Rope Challenge
Giant Swing
Accomodation on Lake Champion?
There are several cabins or housing options available at Lake Champion. The dorm-style cabin I stayed in had a few bunk beds that houses about six guests.
During my stay, three meals were served buffet style in a dining hall. A snack bar and a coffee station are also available to guests throughout the day.
The auditorium served as a gathering place for everyone. It was the location of our morning devotion and worship. Concerts, discussions, and game nights were also among the group’s planned activities.
Where Is Lake Champion?
Lake Champion is in Upstate New York, above the Delaware River Valley. It is located at the foot of Catskill Mountain, overlooking a beautiful lake surrounded by lush greenery. It is 93 miles from New York City and takes about 2 1/2 hours to drive to the camp site.

Sounds super neat thanks for the tip, got it pinned. I’d like to make it a goal this year to get that far out east. I’m very Pacific friendly but ignorant of the Atlantic side of things.
Thank you, Bart.

Sounds like a great destination for an active holiday.
Lake Champion is the perfect destination for any time of the year.
There is so much to do here; I love all the variety of activities!
Definitely activities for everyone, Molly.
Thanks for the suggestions. Being in nature and away from the distractions and stresses of everyday life can provide an opportunity to relax and recharge. Very importantly, camping resorts offer a variety of activities that can be good for both physical and mental health. In addition, camping and cooking outdoors can be a fun and healthy way to spend time with our loved ones. Overall, camping is a great way to prioritize our health and well-being.
Thank you Bruno. Self-care that leads to good mental health is the goal of 2023 and onwards.
This is awesome, I love adventure and this camping would be cool to visit with my family. And lake does look relaxing and love the view of it.
Nature is a vibe Fransic verso.
Looks like such a serene place to camp out. Adding this to our bucket list!
Most definitely Vaishali.
Lake Champion looks beautiful. I can’t believe I’ve never been and grew up so close to it. I can see my hometown (Port Jervis) on the map there. 🙂
Zip lining and tubing from a speed boat?! Sign me up! Thanks for sharing these suggestions for accommodation, fun activities and more.
I haven’t been camping since I was a child, but I really like zip-lining. Hopefully can do more of it in the future… Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for dropping by, Smiley.
Not a camper myself, but the kids and grandkids would absolutely love this place….thanks for more ideas
You are welcome, Jeanine.
Nothing like connecting with nature, right? Nice piece!
Thank you.
The closest camping experience I’ve had was my recent glamping in the Sahara Desert! Lake Champion sounds like a lot of fun. I find it interesting that no alcohol is allowed in this day and age. Some people think they can only have fun when inebriated!
Sandra, who needs alcohol with all the fun activities at Lake Champion.
I’ve never been camping, but these look beautiful. Definitely something to keep in the back of my mind. Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome, Michael. Thanks for visiting.
