How To Cook Spicy Shrimp and Italian Sausage For Dinner.
Equipment
- Cast Iron Pan
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Wooden Spoon
- Garlic Press
- Mixing Bowls
Ingredients
Shrimp Ingredients
- 12 oz Jumbo Shrimp, with tail and shell on (optional)
- 2 tbsp. Badia Complete Seasoning
- 1 tsp. Salt and Black Pepper
- 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
Sausage Ingredients
- 1 lb. Mild Italian Ground Sausage
- 3 tbsps Hot Jerk Seasoning.
- 2 tsp. Thyme, dried
- 1 large Yellow Onion, roughly cut
- 5 cloves Garlic, crushed
- ¼ cup BBQ Sauce
- 2 tbsp. Vinegar
- 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
Instructions
Season The Shrimp.
- Combine shrimp, complete seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. If you want, you can remove the shell and tail. However, I keep them on because they add more flavor to the dish.Allow at least 2 hours for the seasoned shrimp to chill in the refrigerator.
Jerk-up The Sausage.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine the jerk seasoning and ground mild sausage.Allow at least 2 hours or overnight to chill in the refrigerator.
Let's Make Shrimp and Sausage For Dinner!
- Cut the onions into medium-sized rough-cut pieces. Use a garlic press to crush the 5 garlic cloves.
- Remove the seasoned shrimp and sausage from the refrigerator and set aside at room temperature for about 15 minutes before cooking.
- In a cast iron pot heat olive oil for 1 minute. Add the sausage to the heated oil and stir until the reddish-pink sausage turns brown. The sausage has a high-fat content, which will be rendered off during cooking.
- Dump the shrimp onto the sausage mixture and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp is orange-pink in color.
- Add the vinegar, BBQ sauce, crushed garlic, cut onions, and dried thyme leaves to the shrimp and sausage mixture. Cook for another 2 minutes over low to medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Turn off the heat and serve with your preferred side dish.
What Side Orders Can I Serve With The Shrimp and Sausage?
- My Spicy Shrimp and Italian Sausage were served over wild rice. You may, however, serve it with whatever side order you desire. Brown rice, white rice, starchy root vegetables, potatoes, and chickpea pasta are all examples of some ideal side orders.
